DLOBML CHAPTER 19
Chapter 19 — Male Lead, You’re So Shameless!
“Pervert! What are you staring at? Keep looking and I’ll dig your eyes out!”
Li Jiutian slammed the teacup down and glared at the man across from him. A faint blush spread across his ears, but his voice was sharp with anger and humiliation.
“…”
Xing Ge felt that communicating with the male lead was harder than climbing to immortality. No matter what she said or did, he always managed to scold her into the ground. She suddenly realized just how tough the female lead must’ve been to survive this man’s temper every day.
“What exactly did you put in the tea?” she asked curiously. “Was it something powerful?”
“You want to know?” He arched an elegant brow, eyes glinting playfully. “Beg me, and I’ll tell you.” He was clearly trying to toy with her.
“Please,” Xing Ge said earnestly.
Li Jiutian was stunned. He hadn’t expected her to be so cooperative.
Honestly, Xing Ge was just dying to see how spectacularly he was about to poison himself to death.
“…It’s called the Bewitching Soul Pill,” he said at last, still glaring. “Ever heard of it?”
“Nope.” Xing Ge shook her head like a rattle drum.
That name sounded exciting. Was it one of those that made you hallucinate until you died?
Seeing her wide-eyed curiosity, Li Jiutian’s pride swelled.
“You really are uncultured,” he said smugly. “This thing is rare, an old friend gave it to me as a birthday gift. By itself, it’s a top-grade elixir that steadies the mind. But once it’s mixed into Buddha’s Heart Tea, it ferments into a spirit illusion that slips straight into one’s consciousness.” His grin turned mischievous. “Under its effect, even the most virtuous cultivators can’t lie… or hide their darkest desires.”
Xing Ge clapped in exaggerated admiration. “Amazing!”
Then, as expected, her curiosity exploded.
“So when did you stop wetting the bed?”
“Do you… like chewing on toes?”
“How many times a day do you look in the mirror?”
The male lead gave her a disdainful look, like she had just rolled in mud. “Do I look like someone as uncultured as you? I stopped wetting the bed at fourteen. Clean, fragrant feet, biting them once in a while is perfectly fine. And as for mirrors…” He flicked his hair proudly. “When you’re a peerless god of beauty like me, of course you must keep an eye on your appearance. Not much, really, only two or three hundred times a day.”
Xing Ge stared at him.
Holy sh**… this pill is divine.
She was seconds away from kneeling before its power. Was this miracle medicine imported straight from India or something?
A moment later, realization dawned on Li Jiutian. His smug grin vanished, replaced by sheer horror. He’d actually just blurted out his most embarrassing secrets in front of him!
“You! How dare you trick me!” he roared, snatching up the teacup and hurling it at her.
Xing Ge lazily dodged it, rolling her eyes. Please. You did that to yourself, genius.
She stuck her tongue out, taunting him with a silly face.
“So, how old were you when you had your first kiss?”
“Who did you give it to?”
“Were you on top or on the bottom?”
Alright, she was doing this purely to piss him off. After all, she had already whisked the female lead away as her eighteenth concubine, and even the in-laws adored her. The mighty male lead was destined to stay single forever. Ha!
“You.. you!!! I’ll kill you!”
Li Jiutian’s pale face turned crimson. With a thunderous boom, his spiritual power erupted, shattering the entire stone pavilion into dust that rained down like snowflakes.
Xing Ge hadn’t expected the explosion. She blinked against the dust and suddenly felt a cold hand clamp around her throat. Murderous intent flooded the air as she met his bloodshot eyes.
Uh-oh. Maybe she’d pushed him a bit too far.
Xing Ge immediately shut her mouth. Sure, she could probably win a fight, but who knew if he had some secret move hidden up his sleeve? She wasn’t ready to die yet.
“Peak Master Li, let’s not get hasty,” she said quickly, forcing a laugh. “I was just talking nonsense earlier, don’t take it to heart!”
She smiled obsequiously, then raised her hand to slap her own face. Actually, it was very light, like scratching an itch, while she cried out “ouch ouch” in pain. “Ow, this mouth just won't behave. It deserves to be slapped! Slapped!”
As she prepared to “slap” the other cheek, Li Jiutian suddenly caught her wrist. His voice was rough, trembling slightly, yet filled with a strange tenderness.
“Idiot,” he said quietly. “Without my permission, how dare you hurt yourself?”
Xing Ge: “???”
Snow-like dust drifted across his face, making his red lips even more striking. He lifted her hand and pressed it to his warm cheek.
“My first kiss,” he said, “was stolen by a b*stard. My first time too. That b*stard took everything from me, rough and shamelessly… and now that same b*stard is pretending nothing happened.”
Xing Ge: “???”
As he spoke, Li Jiutian’s eyes began to redden.
And then… he started to cry.
Xing Ge: “!!!”
Oh no. Of all things in the world, this is her weakness, people crying in front of her.
“Don’t cry, don’t cry,” she said awkwardly. “It’s just one scumbag, what’s the big deal? Everyone meets one sooner or later. You’re strong, you can totally get revenge! Tie him up one day, throw some whips and chili powder, use a tiger bench device if you must! Once he depends on you, he’ll never escape!”
Li Jiutian lifted his tear-streaked face, eyes watery but glimmering. “Really?”
“Of course! When have I ever lied to you?”
Xing Ge puffed her chest proudly, not realizing she’d just dug her own grave.
She even reached out and gently wiped away his tears.
Then she heard the sound of jade shattering.
She froze, stunned.
Li Jiutian’s lips curved into a dangerous smile.
—Damn it, male lead, you’re so shameless!
