Chapter 48 — The Campus God Who Spat Blood (22) | Blissful Days for Male Lead and “Rival”
Chen Xi’s lips curved. His fingers moved again, quietly crawling up, crawling onto her thigh.
“If you touch me again, I am tossing you out the window,” Xing Ge threatened.
He sounded fierce enough, but Chen Xi had long since developed immunity to this empty bluff. His starry eyes blinked as he tilted his head and smiled at her. “I know you would not bear to throw me out. You were so gentle just now, and you even helped me… mmph!”
She had already slapped a hand over his mouth, lightning fast, before this menace could spill any shameful secrets.
“All right. I know you are tired. Lean on me and sleep for a bit. I will wake you when we get to the hospital.” For once she pressed his head down onto her shoulder and would not let him speak. Her ears, though, quietly turned red.
Chen Xi saw those crimson ear tips, hunched his shoulders, and tried very hard not to laugh.
So it was true. This person only looked domineering in very specific situations. The rest of the time he was a pure, clueless little pretty boy.
“Fine. I will sleep. When do I ever not listen to you?” Chen Xi muttered with fake innocence, deliberately stressing a certain word to tease.
Xing Ge was crying inside.
Bro, flirt if you must, but can you check the setting first? The driver’s eyes are sparkling like he is already imagining something he really should not. That is terrifying!
The taxi pulled up at the hospital.
Xing Ge hauled the fainted “crime boss” over a shoulder and carried him in.
The doctor in a white coat pushed his glasses up and clicked his tongue. “What happened to him this time?”
Huh? Why “this time”?
Xing Ge rubbed his chin and said in a deep voice, “Doc, you look kind of familiar.”
There was something unparalleled and wonderfully sleazy about this man. She had definitely seen him somewhere.
“Young man, that pickup line is outdated.” The male doctor coyly stroked his own cheek. “As someone who has been around the block, let me offer a friendly reminder. Your man is staring at your back right now. You may want to prepare to kneel on durian tonight.”
Xing Ge: …
Doctor, there is a lot to unpack in that sentence.
I understood none of it. Truly.
“Back to business.” The doctor snapped into a stern face. “What exactly happened to the patient?”
Xing Ge scratched her head. “Well, it is a long story…”
After a lengthy explanation, the doctor nodded in dawning realization. “So he fainted from fright!”
Most likely the poor fellow witnessed some highly unsuitable scene, his heart rate spiked, and he blacked out. The doctor nodded again, and in his mind a 100,000-word forbidden drama began to write itself.
Xing Ge coughed. “Doctor, I think you are misunderstanding something.”
“No, no, no. Say no more. I understand.” Two pink clouds floated onto his cheeks as he gave her a look that clearly said, I get it. I really do.
Xing Ge: You get sh***. And what is with the blushing!
As they spoke, the man on the bed stirred and opened his eyes to a white ceiling. “Why does the underworld look exactly like a hospital?” he muttered.
The doctor smiled. “Sir, this is a hospital. You just fainted. No danger to your life. A few days of rest and you will be fine.”
At those words, the big bad boss burst into tears.
Mom, I am alive!
He flung himself at the doctor and sobbed.
A man in his thirties bawled like a child, snot trembling on his lip.
Xing Ge tugged Chen Xi a little farther away.
The doctor’s mouth twitched. “Sir, please manage your emotions…”
He did not finish. The patient suddenly grabbed him and kissed him, tongue and all.
Doctor: …
He felt profoundly unwell.
Sir, you cannot just harass people because you are handsome. Believe it or not, I will call security and have you dragged out to feed the dogs!
Someone watched, fascinated.
“Wow, so that works too? Amazing!”
Chen Xi clapped a hand over her eyes and pushed her out the door.
Xing Ge tried to pry his hand off and go back. “We are at the best part. It would be a waste not to watch. Are you dumb?”
“You really want to watch?” Chen Xi asked.
“Of course,” she answered without thinking.
“Then why do we not do one of our own?”
“What?”
And just like that, the short-legged corgi was caged against the wall by the long-legged male lead.
Inside, Xing Ge: F***, F***, my neck hurts, orz, it is going to snap!
This ninety-degree tilt-your-head-back make-out angle is how people die.
She shoved him away and kneaded the knot forming at the base of her skull.
He had not expected her to push him off. For a moment he stood there, stunned.
“You…”
His voice was hoarse and sad. “Do you hate me that much?”
Xing Ge froze. “No.”
“Liar. You do.” His eyes were red and gleaming with a hint of tears. “Why else would you push me away? You did not want me to kiss you. You must hate me.” People in love all teeter, even him. A thoughtless little gesture from a lover can spark a full-blown crisis.
“I just got a cramp in my neck and needed a second,” she said.
The top student did not buy a flimsy excuse like that. He shot her the most wounded look.
Fine. Explanations do less than action.
Xing Ge suddenly stepped forward and scooped him up.
Princess carry. Zero pressure.
Chen Xi’s eyes flew wide like a startled fawn. He clutched at the front of her shirt in panic. “W-what are you doing?”
“I just think this is more suitable.”
The corridor was empty and bright. Only their breaths wove together in the quiet. She slowly leaned in. Chen Xi’s long lashes fluttered, a touch shy. “This is a public place. Maybe not the best idea?”
Xing Ge: …
Funny. A minute ago you were devouring me and embarrassment did not exist.
“Oh. Then never mind,” she said, face completely blank.
“Wait. I am ready,” Chen Xi blurted, shutting his eyes tight.
A gentle, scorching kiss seemed to carry a faint fragrance.
Xing Ge smacked her lips afterward and considered. “Hmm. Peach. Not bad.”
Chen Xi laughed. “You like it? I will buy some when we head back. The fruit shop also has a cake maker. I will order a cherry cake for your snack tomorrow.”
Xing Ge: !!!
You cannot find a more considerate boyfriend even if you went hunting with lanterns in broad daylight.
Wait, that is not how the saying goes.
Whatever. Everyone gets the point.
Hand in hand, the two of them dawdled back out.
As for the screams from a certain ward behind them? They probably misheard.
Elsewhere, the Old Demon King was living in fire and water.
The first thing the “boss” did after discharge was to call in his boys, kidnap the culprit, hang him upside down from a big tree in the wilderness, and leave him there for a day and a night. A Miao girl foraging for herbs happened by, fell in love at first sight, and carried him home as her village consort.
They said she was very skilled in the arts of gu poison.
To this day the man was still obediently trapped in the mountain village, spending his hours dreaming of escape.
With their brainy strategist out of commission, the Chen family’s plan to break up the couple crashed and burned.
And our two leads had no idea any of this happened.
Under someone’s very firm request, Xing Ge moved in and began a blissful existence of clothes that folded themselves and meals that cooked themselves, cough, a happy life.
One morning he woke and found his carefully nurtured baby bok choy gone.
Good grief, that was a disaster. That plant had been planted by the great Fuxi himself!
It was expensive. It had souvenir value.
He had planned to take it back and bluff a few fresh-faced baby immortals with it. Ahem. Oops, dark little scheme exposed. Forgive me.
He turned the house upside down and still could not find it.
Then he saw a plate of glossy green vegetables on the breakfast table.
Hmm. Those dismembered pieces looked a lot like his bok choy…
Chen Xi picked up a pair of chopsticks, popped a bite into his mouth, chewed a while, and said to himself, “Tastes a bit odd. Hubby, did you forget to water it?”
Xing Ge’s mouth fell open. He turned to stone.
And to stone.
And to dust.
IsitRo: end of another arc. Ay lmaoo!😹😹😹
